The Weekly Review #1

My manuscript has made huge progress the last few weeks, it finally feels like the ideas in my head are becoming a story worth reading. This weeks quota of 5,000 words brings the total over 34,000 words.  I spent time hashing out my ending and figuring out what needs to happen to bring resolution to the characters, not to mention craft a thrilling climax.  At my current rate of writing I should finish the draft in around three weeks. Then the harsh world of editing.

In short story land I’ve sought new ideas to pursue and have fought my inner perfectionist.  A handful of ideas have crossed the board but nothing has called to me.  I keep waiting for the perfect one.  Not a good thing,  perfect is a myth.  I could waste weeks seeking the perfect story or I could develop an idea I already have.  I’d better start writing.

On an up note I found two sites that accept short stories on a larger scale.  Being accepted through them is much more difficult but worth gold in publicity.  Here are the sites:

Every Day Fiction – short fiction in your inbox, daily

Strange Horizons – a weekly speculative fiction magazine

Tomorrow is the release of my short story at the Soft Whispers site.  I’ve liked the fiction and poetry I’ve read there over the last few weeks and will definitely contribute more to them in the future.
